It’s been a year since I wrote a blog. That’s not to say I’ve not written anything, but they never quite made it on to here.

I had a major health event in 2024 which lingered into 2025. Then came the custody battle from hell which means Gary and I head to Chicago three days a week to help my son and grandson. What I’ve been doing is adding chapters to my life book.

I started writing my first rescue dog book exactly four years ago today. How time flies.

I Chose You is filled with stories about individual dogs. One thing I learned from writing two books and a zillion blogs about dogs is that all of the stories in your dog’s life combine to make just one chapter of your life.

We have a lot of chapters in our lives from childhood to adult, our careers, relationships, and, for some of us, children. Our entire lives have so many chapters!

The dog chapters of our lives are incredibly special. I could not have imagined ever being so lucky to have the Coconut chapter in my life. It’s a can’t-put-it down chapter because it includes everything. Romance, mystery, comedy, and, at some point, despair. All the stories combine to make my dog’s book one that I will always remember.

But here’s the deal. Once your dog chooses you, or maybe once you choose them, you are the only book in his life. Our job is to write the best book possible for our dogs. Every day I am writing chapters in Coconut’s book. He remembers every single chapter I write with him. I’m trying to write a best seller because I am the only book Coconut in his life.

What chapter are you going to write today?
