Why do bad things happen to good people? There have been sermons preached and books written and long discussions about this question. Instead of trying to answer it, I’m going to tell you a story. I think I’m a good person. Not a perfect person, and maybe not even a person some people like to be around. I had a tough week last week. I won't bore you with the details. Let's just say I felt like my nine-year-old self the summer when all the mommies pulled their kids out of the public swimming pool because my siblings and I went in on a hot day to cool off. On that day we were the only kids who weren't white.
