Thank Goodness for Pets
Thank goodness for pets. Yesterday was a horrible headache day. Weather and pretty much every single thing on the spines of the first book. I decided to curl up on the sofa and read. It was a tow-throw day because my house was so cold. Coconut usually sits at my feet, but for some reason he knew. He slowly made his way up my legs and then nestled in the small of my back. And sighed. A big contented sigh. And I felt so much of the tension within me drain away. I probably should have written or started my business taxes. I could have cooked a big pot of soup. Instead, I read and was happy that my dog knew I needed him. Thank goodness for pets. Thank goodness for pets.
Thank You For Being A Friend
We have lost so many celebrities this year, but for those of us who worked with dog rescues and shelters today is the day we remember Betty White. On Betty White's 101st birthday, January 17th, everyone should pick a local rescue or animal shelter in your area and donate just $10.00 in Betty White's name. Last year the suggested donation was $5.00 and millions were raised. With inflation and the increased need to rescue dogs I think people should donate $10,00 or as much as they can afford. Every penny counts for these rescues. NEW PAWS is no longer open, but wherever you live there's a rescue a shelter a foster that is desperate for your help. Where will you be donating in Betty White's memory?
Dog Gone
Last night we watched a movie called Dog Gone. It stars Rob Lowe and is based by a book on the same title. The plot is pretty basic. Lowe's son is graduating from college with no clear career path. He adopts a rescue dog he names Gonker. Yes, there's a story. He goes home to live with his wealthy parents while trying to find himself. It turns out that Gonker has Addison's disease and needs medication every thirty days and, of course, he chases a fox and runs away. They are on the Appalachian Trail and that's a lot of ground to cover. Will they find him? Will it be in time? Will the young man find himself and finally make his father proud of him? It's an okay dog movie on Netflix. But the whole time I was watching it I thought of what would happen if my dog [...]
