A Light for My Heart

By |December 9, 2022|

Another story! It's a great one and you're gonna love it. A couple of summers ago I met a woman through an an online Oshkosh Facebook site. We connected over dogs, food, and feeling different than others here in Oshkosh. My new friend grew up here and has family and she had moved back, purchased a home, but something was different. I moved here not knowing anyone except my son and his wife and child and it's been a struggle feeling like this is home. For both of us it's been knowing that we are not living in a place that speaks to and embraces us. I call it not living in my heart place. My friend decided to sell her house and move back to the Pacific Northwest which she realized is truly her heart place. My husband and I have decided that as much as we miss the [...]

Reviews are Gifts to the Author

By |December 8, 2022|

Writing and self-publishing a book means that I am now officially a small business. A very small business. I get to make every decision about content, about my cover and back cover and how I want to price it and, well, everything. Authors will tell you that writing the book was the easy part. I write when I find a passion. I Chose You is my eleventh book and I think it might be my favorite. It's not [...]

The Kindness of a Stranger

By |December 6, 2022|

We moved in March of 2017 from Hawaii to Oshkosh, WI. Hindsight tells me that the timing wasn't the best as it was still dark and depressing and as different as possible from home. All kinds of things went wrong with that move including the movers losing, breaking, or stealing the majority of our belongings. When you make a move of that magnitude you pare things down to the essential and those filled with memories. Topping the list were my kid's report cards and artwork, toys and clothes they might want to pass on to their children one day, special books, and Christmas decorations. You know the ones that each family has on their tree. Baby's first Christmas, the clothespin reindeer, the egg carton snowman, the don't touch glass one collected on various trips around the globe. But in 2017 we decided our days of having a tree were over. [...]
